Fire & Emergency Siren

The fire brigade will sound the siren every Wednesday evening to ensure that it is in working order.

The siren is sounded to call the emergency responders in Hahei to action. This can be for road accidents, fires, medical emergencies and a wide range of other events.

A continuous siren with no highs and lows is a Tsunami warning. In this event, please stop what you are doing immediately and proceed to higher ground.

Fire Restrictions & Rules

There is a total Fire Ban in place from 20 December to 8 February. Do not light open fires. This also applies to fires on the beach and fireworks.

A fire permit is required for any open fires, including braziers (not incinerators).

Outside of the Fire Ban period, Fire permits can be obtained from the TCDC offices in Whitianga on 07 867 2010.
We ask that people do not phone individual fire brigade members.

For all emergencies please dial 111
